As parents, are you frustrated with how your children’s schools handle academic or behavioral concerns? As your child’s therapist, I also serve as their advocate. I attend school conferences, IEP meetings, etc. I will communicate with teachers via email and do whatever it takes to help the school and family work together to achieve academic and behavioral success for your child. Do not let your children slip through the cracks in the school system.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will be utilized to help change irrational beliefs and fears, which could possibly be influencing negative behavioral and/or emotional concerns. In addition, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) will be utilized to focus on a client’s strengths and increasing insight into times positive decision-making skills have been achieved.
Therapy will help increase your child’s confidence & ability to succeed academically, as well as, give them the tools necessary to make better choices, in order to avoid disciplinary actions. Advocating for themselves, the stressors of school, recognizing future goals, and peer pressure, are some of the areas discussed.
